Compeer Financial Announces Board Updates

Wise Elected Chair, Erickson Elected Vice Chair, Jansen Appointed

Sun Prairie, Wis., (February 15, 2024) – Compeer Financial, a member-owned Farm Credit cooperative based in the upper Midwest, is pleased to announce the election of Stephanie Wise as Board Chair, Dan Erickson as Vice Chair, and the appointment of Sarah Jansen to the organization’s Board of Directors.

STEPHANIE WISE – BOARD CHAIR

Wise, a fifth-generation corn, soybean and popcorn farmer, previously served as Vice Chair on Compeer’s Board. Bringing a wealth of agricultural knowledge, Wise is involved in crop protection product sales, fertilizer sales and owns a small grain and milling operation. A graduate of Augustana College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration, she earned an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Wise serves on the Compensation and Governance and Legislative Affairs committees and has been on the Board since 2015, with her current term set to expire in 2025. Residing in Joliet, Ill., Wise and her husband Christopher pursue hobbies like antiquing, old building renovation, interior organization and decorating, and blogging. Wise succeeds former Board Chair Dave Peters of Manteno, Ill., who will continue to serve as a Director on Compeer Financial’s Board.

DAN ERICKSON – VICE CHAIR

Erickson, a partner in a family farming operation in Alden, Minn., was selected to serve as the Board’s Vice Chair. Self-employed on the farm since obtaining his general agriculture degree from South Dakota State University in 1999, Erickson serves on the Enterprise Risk, Corporate Giving and Legislative Affairs committee, as well as the AgriBank District Farm Credit Council.

With a history of service to the ag community, Erickson was a regional representative for the Minnesota Corn Growers Association from 2006-2017 and held leadership positions in the Freeborn County Corn and Soybean Growers Association. Beyond agriculture, he actively contributes to his community by volunteering with organizations like the Alden Fire Department, Provide Pals, Alden 4-H, Sons of the American Legion and at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Erickson’s current board term is set to expire in 2025.

Wise and Erickson were elected by their fellow Directors to serve in these leadership positions. Former Board Chair Dave Peters vacates his position as part of a regular rotation of chairpersons and will continue to serve on the Board as a Director. “We appreciate the exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication Dave Peters brought to Compeer as Board Chair,” said Jase Wagner, president and CEO of Compeer Financial. “His guidance has been instrumental in shaping our success, and I look forward to ongoing collaboration and insights from Dave as he continues on as a director.”

SARAH JANSEN – APPOINTED DIRECTOR

Additionally, Sarah Jansen joins Compeer’s Board of Directors, filling one of three appointed director positions. With over 30 years of experience in information technology and digital transformation, Jansen has worked in Fortune 500 companies in both consumer products and financial services. She currently serves on Compeer Financial’s Enterprise Risk committee.

Jansen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management information systems and human resource management and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. In her most recent position, she held the role of Chief Information Officer at a financial services company. Active in various professional endeavors, Sarah is a member of the NEW Digital Alliance and is president-elect of the board of directors for the Women’s Fund of the Fox Cities. Her current term on Compeer’s Board will expire in 2027.

Compeer Financial’s 15-member Board of Directors plays a crucial role in setting business direction, monitoring and evaluating operations and considering client needs within an ever-changing marketplace.
